Inverness is Scotland’s most northerly city and offers an amazing range of activities and places of interest both locally and within a short drive from Sandwood.

There is the world famous site of the Battle of Culloden – not our finest hour, but well worth a visit!

Urquhart Castle – the ruins of one of Scotland’s largest castles, set on the banks of Loch Ness, just south of the picturesque village of Drumnadrochit. Open all year. 01456 450551.

Inverness City Centre and The Eastgate Shopping Centre boast a vast array of shops and stores where the ladies can while away an afternoon. The menfolk can wait for them in one of the nearby friendly bars which the city centre has to offer!

Later, you can venture out and sample the superb nightlife- there are live music venues and nightclubs –you will be spoiled for choice!

Eden Court Theatre – Recently refurbished to an exceptional standard, this theatre offers a range of drama, films and live music. Something here for everyone’s taste!

There is a range of places to eat in Inverness, from fast food to haute cuisine, from Italian to Oriental.

For the outdoor types, Inverness and surrounding area has much to offer. Aviemore, just a short drive away is renowned for its winter sports activities and funicular railway.

Hill climbers can spend many satisfying hours in the Cairngorms ticking off some of the highest Munros in Scotland. Also in this area is a wealth of wildlife, including the famous ospreys at nearby Boat of Garten .
